With the WP Popups Leaving Notice addon, you can automatically display a notification popup whenever a user clicks an external link on your site.
You can trigger the warning for all external link clicks or just certain links that you specify.
The purpose of the popup is to let users know they’ll be taken to an external site, so that they aren’t surprised when they end up somewhere else.
Once you activate the Leaving Notice addon, you’ll get a new Leaving Notice template in the WP Popups template builder.
The popup gives users two buttons/choices:
- Leave your site and continue on to the external link they clicked.
- Stay on your website.
You can either target the popup to all external links. Or, you can also display it for external links with a certain CSS class, which lets you only display the notice on a case-by-case basis.
For example, if you’re linking to an external site that you don’t support, but still want to reference, you could display the warning so that users fully understand you don’t endorse the site.
You can also choose to automatically redirect visitors to the external link after a certain number of seconds.
Whether you want to warn users about all external links or just some specific links, the WP Popups Leaving Notice will have you up and running in just a few minutes.
