For improved security (or other reasons), you might not want to let idle users stay logged in to your WordPress site.
With the Idle Logout addon for WP Popups, you can display a popup notice after a certain period of inactivity and automatically log users out if they don’t interact with your inactivity warning – just like you see on bank or credit card websites.
At the same time, because the popup still gives users a choice to continue their session, you won’t accidentally log out active users.
Once you activate the addon, you’ll get a new Idle Logout template in the WP Popups template builder.
The template provides users with two choices/buttons:
- Continue their session and stay logged in.
- Log out.
If users don’t click the button to continue their session within a certain amount of time, you can automatically log them out and redirect them to any page on your site.
In addition to fully customizing all of the content in the visual template builder, you can also choose:
- How long a user needs to be inactive for the notice to trigger in seconds, minutes, or hours.
- How many seconds before a user is automatically logged out if they don’t interact with the popup. For example, you can log them out 30 seconds after the notice displays if they don’t click the button to continue their session.
- A custom URL to redirect users to after they’re automatically logged out.
If you don’t want to let idle users stay logged in to your WordPress site, the WP Popups Idle Logout addon provides a user-friendly way to automatically log out inactive users without getting in the way of active users.
