WP Popups comes with a built-in A/B testing tool to help you optimize your popups.
In this article, you’ll learn how to create your first A/B test with WP Popups.
1. Create Your Original Popup
If you haven’t already, you’ll first need to create the base popup for your test. If you’re not sure how to do this, you can follow the tutorial on how to create your first popup.
2. Start a New A/B Test
Once you’ve created a popup, go to WP Popups -> All Popups to access the list of your popups. Then, hover over the popup that you want to create an A/B test for and click the A/B Test option:
3. Customize Test Variant
Once you start a new A/B test, you’ll see a new popup entry for your test variant in your all popups list.
To make the changes that you want to test, hover over the test variant and click Edit:
Now, you can use the regular WP Popups template builder to customize almost anything about your test variant. You can use different:
- Text – see if a different headline or button text yields better results.
- Design/style settings – try a different popup position or change colors/styles.
- Triggers – see if one trigger rule performs better than another.
- Etc.
Make sure to save your changes once you’ve made your edits.
4. Analyze Test Results and Choose Winner
At this point, your A/B test is live and WP Popups will start displaying different variants to visitors.
Once you’ve had some visits, WP Popups will display the statistics for each variant in your popup list, which lets you see how each variant is performing:
Once you’ve collected enough data and you’re ready to declare a winner, you can hover over a variant and click the Make this version live link to choose the winner:
WP Popups will end the A/B test and set all the other popup variants as drafts:
Congratulations! You just successfully ran your first A/B test with WP Popups.
